It's Time for Kindergarten!!

**Welcome to Ms. Gullo's Class!
**Classes begin  tomorrow, August 31st at 8:00 am.  Please meet me outside our patio door.  There will be a  sign for where to line up.  The first bell is at 7:55 am. and I will be opening our Kindergarten door at 8:00 am. with a HUGE SMILE on my face!
**We will always enter and exit the brown patio doors.
**Because of the hot weather--please send a water bottle with your child.  We do not have air conditioning, but have places to cool off in our building.
**Please send a HEALTHY SNACK each day.
**The first hour of class from 8:00-9:00 am is a FAMILY HOUR.  I will chat with both students and adults.  We will also have a story and perhaps an activity.  Families will depart at 9:00 am and we will continue the rest of our day.
**ABSOLUTELY NO NUT OR NUT PRODUCTS IN OUR CLASSROOM.  If your child has a nut allergy, arrangements can be made in the lunchroom for them.  We do have a NUT  FREE lunch table.
**Your child should know if he/she has a HOME LUNCH or will be getting a SCHOOL LUNCH.  Did you send a drink or will they be getting white or chocolate milk?
**Our LUNCH RECESS begins at 11:45 am on the playground.  We will be eating lunch in our lunchroom from 12:15-12:40 pm.
**I am looking for a few more parents to help assist with lunch the first week of school.  I have Kate Meier so far.  Two more parents would be great.  Meet us on the playground at 12:10.
**IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY----please have your child wear or keep in school a pair of gym shoes and socks.
**Please make sure your child has a COMPLETE CHANGE OF CLOTHES INCLUDING UNDERWEAR AND SOCKS.
**I am working on our daily schedule and you will receive a copy soon.  For MONDAY--our SPECIAL AREA SCHEDULE includes SPANISH (12:45-1:15) with Senorita Zaragoza, MUSIC (1:15-1:45) with Ms. Hiolski and LIBRARY (1:45-2:15) with Ms. Noonan.  I will be escorting students to these classes.
**Please continue to bring in supplies if you have not done so already and any medical forms.
**Our regular dismissal time is 2:55 pm, but for tomorrow families can come at 2:30 for our end of the day story.   Please note that regular dismissal is at 2:55 pm. each day except for Wednesdays at 1:55 pm.
**I have received transportation information on some of the students taking the district school bus, YMCA, Clubhouse, Hephzibah and some home daycares.  If you did not attend the supply drop off and your child is attending one of these aftercare programs, please email me to let me know.  Siblings picking up kindergarten students must dismiss with their own class and walk around the front of the building to our patio.
**I can't wait to see all of you TOMORROW!

WELCOME STUDENTS AND FAMILIES!! August 2015

**This week has been a very busy one at Irving School!  I am almost finished getting everything ready for the beginning of our school year.
**I am very excited to meet each and every one of you.  Please come to school to meet me and drop off your supplies in the classroom on THURSDAY, AUGUST 27th from 4:30-5:30 pm in Room 110.   Once you have finished  you can join the other kindergarten families on the playground for a popsicle treat.  If you cannot make it.....no worries.  I will see you on the first day.
**I will be looking for interested parents to help with the lunch program for the first week of school.  I will have a sign up sheet at Supply Drop Off.  The time is noon to 12:45 pm.   You can also email me if you are interested.
**Our very first day of school is MONDAY, AUGUST 31st.  Students are here from 8:00-2:55 am.  The first bell rings at 7:55 am.  Please line up on our kindergarten patio next to the main doors.  You will see my smiling face at 8:00 am.  Families can remain with students from 8:00-9:00 am.  Come see our classroom set up and hear about our schedule.
**Some things to ponder----home lunch?  school lunch?  ordering milk?  what kind?
**All medical forms need to be in by Monday.
**We will have a full day on Monday.
**Stop and check out the Irving Garden.  It is amazing!  Our Kindergarten bed is the first one nearest to the street.  Can you find our  GULLO brick?   Look at the edamame pods, kale, swiss chard and cool companion flowers.  We even have some potatoes growing under the ground.  Check out some of the other beds.   The Wild Flowers growing at the far end were planted by the fifth grade.
** See you all soon!!!!
